As part of the lectures Operating systems and Software quality assurance there were two presentations on "Cloud Testing" and "Web Technologies". With my knowledge gained through the Microsoft Student Partner Program, I didn't miss the chance to enrich the presentations with exciting statistics, graphics, live demos and case studies. The audience was able to take a lot away with them.

Agenda

Testing in the cloud - Xamarin Test Cloud

The first lecture in the module Software quality assurance gave the audience a comprehensive overview of the possible uses of various tools for testing in the cloud - today and in the future. With the help of illustrative examples and live demos, we took a closer look at UI testing and the frameworks behind it. The presentation placed a special focus on the Xamarin Test Cloud and the Xamarin.UITest framework. Statistics and examples from everyday life show how important it is to test products (especially in combination with other products) before they are permanently installed.

Web or app?

This presentation took us through the different worlds, including the advantages and disadvantages of web apps, progressive web apps, hybrid apps and native apps. We placed a special focus on forensics; the number of places where log files containing valuable information are stored is quite remarkable. As part of the module Operating systems It was also interesting to see to what extent the different apps can run on the various operating systems and what system requirements they have. In the one-hour presentation, we also learned from a live demo how quickly web apps can be built.
